Black is Back

It’s still summer, although the end of summer, and it appears that black is back already. Hollywood’s elite and the top celebrities are hitting the red carpet in lots of black and looking pretty incredible in the process.

 

Angelina Jolie stepped out at the premiere of Brad Pitt’s latest film, Inglourious Basterds,  in a striking strapless black leather dress paired with a pair of simple black gladiator sandals. The look was simple, sexy and edgy but not over the top. Definitely the perfect look for a Quentin Tarantino movie premiere.

Jordana Brewster went another route at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association luncheon with dress that features a pretty print with a touch of black. Look for something a summery fabric with a little black to express your style at the end of this summer. It’s a classy look that doesn’t go too far into the dark colors but it’s the bright saturated colors that were so popular this spring and early summer. For shoes Jordana Brewster selected a plain and simple pair of pumps, could this already be the backlash to the personality driven heels that have just started to pick up steam?

It looks like Ashley Tisdale is auditioning for a remake of Flashdance but her oversized Alexander Wang black bag  is the perfect look for the end of the season and moving into the fall. But note to Tisdale, if your bag is that empty, you could actually opt for a smaller size. And a note to Hollywood’s producers, with the return of Fame to the big screen it probably won’t be long before Flashdance does the same thing and from the look of it, Ashley Tisdale would be a good choice to play Alex.

So from casual to dressy to sexy style black is the new black this season so expect to see it as an overall dressing theme or as a tying element throughout.
