Jessica Simpson is a Sequined Mess

What to say about this disaster that Jessica Simpson decided to wear to her sister’s debut on Broadway? Maybe she was trying to steal the limelight, maybe she thought the disco raccoon look was in this season or maybe she was just showing off her balloon boy Halloween costume. Whatever Jessica Simpson was doing she succeeded at one thing, looking atrocious.

Yes, sequins are one of the hottest accessories this season and you’ll probably be seeing a fair number of sequined and embellished dresses but remember the one thing Jessica Simpson obviously forgot, shiny fabrics (sequins included) catch the light in very unflattering ways, making that belly pooch look more like a second row of boobs. Sequins should be used sparingly like a sequined scarf or handbag or even a dress or sweater with just a smattering of sequins.

And the raccoon eye makeup, what to say about that? It really seems as though Jessica Simpson got ready for Ashlee Simpson’s Broadway debut in Chicago while standing in a dark closet with no mirrors. A little subtlety here can go a long way.

I’m not going to rip on her for being fat, there’s too much of that in the tabloids and quite frankly she’s probably about my size. But people who are in the public eye really have to be aware of how they look and if they don’t take pains to look good at public appearances then they shouldn’t complain about the responses they get.
