John Daly's Pants

The old joke is, why does a golfer wear two pairs of pants? In case he gets a hole-in-one. But John Daly’s golf pants are simply a joke and a bad one at that. Daly isn’t known for his level headed actions or fashion sense but this outfit is pushing his colorful image into a whole new realm.

It’s pretty clear that the golfer needs a little fashion guidance so let’s review the outfit. The golf shoes are just fine, probably something he’s comfortable in and so they stay. The rest goes.

Let’s start with the biggest atrocity, the pants. Patterned pants are sort of a golf staple so there’s no reason for John Daly to go boring khaki but a little restraint might be good. Taking a tip from the best, the Tiger Woods Golf Apparel Flat Front Pants might be the best way to go with a subtle pattern and the slightly stretchy Dri-FIT fabric that is designed to move comfortably with a golfer’s swing.

John Daly’s shirt by itself isn’t that bad, (did you notice it doesn’t even match the pants) but he could make a much better choice with something a bit more slimming to show off the weight he’s recently lost. The very simple and beautiful blue Cutter & Buck Tournament Pique Polo is slimming and attractive and the color is a little attention grabbing but not too much. For a bit more flash the J. Lindeberg Golf Morey Short Sleeve Polo is a great choice. The print is a modified argyle which is apparently something Daly likes, the almost solid dark color is more thinning and more flattering. And at the moment a subtle mix of patterns is a hot fashion statement.

But then again, why would we want John Daly to change, it’s his outrageousness that makes him interesting.
