The newest luxury fabric is the old favorite, leather. Before you think you’ve got that fashion trend covered with your leather boots and leather jacket think again. Leather is going to be hot, hot, hot in ways you never thought you’d wear. That’s right, leather pants aren’t just for rock stars anymore.

The winter of 2009/2010 will usher in lots of leather looks in ways the average person never thought they’d embrace before. Look for leather in staple pieces of clothing such as pants, leather dresses, leather skirts, and leather tops. But don’t go all Leather Tuscadero this season, instead pick one really good quality piece made of soft and supple leather that you can wear often. Accessorize your leather clothing with simple pieces that really let the leather shine and take center stage.

Speaking of accessories, if you’re not sure you can slide into a pair of leather pants or carry off a sleek leather dress then load up on the leather accessories including shoes, boots, leather handbags, leather gloves, jewelry and anything else you can find with a bit of leather.

You can also try to carry off the leather look without diving headfirst into a skin tight pair of leather leggings but by finding pieces of clothing that have touches of leather. It’s something we’ve seen at fashion week so it shouldn’t be long before the stores start carrying jeans with leather pockets and detailing or sweatshirt material paired with leather.

No matter how you incorporate leather into your wardrobe make sure that you’re buying real leather and quality leather, otherwise you risk coming off looking cheap and you won’t have the effect you’re looking for.
