Denim Trends

There’s always a new denim trend on the horizon and who knows what it will be, but I do know what the current jean trends are.

Fade to Black

Is there anything more neutral than a black jean? The faded black denim trend is practical, slimming and destined to become a staple wardrobe item in everyone’s closet (or drawer) this year. The best part about this latest trend is it’s really just a color so you can combine a few different trends with your faded black jeans like distressed fabric, skinny jeans, or flares.

Moto Jeans

The latest trend in jeans, as recently sighted on denim trend setter Katie Holmes, is the moto jean. Found in almost any color and tight from waist to ankle the moto jean is meant to be form fitting and a little touch. Since they’re meant to replicate motocross pants they can be worn with tough boots to complement the style or with girly heels for a contrast.

Studs and Zippers

The embellishment was a shoe trend this last year, it seems as though that trend has moved upward and now studded and zippered jeans are a hot trend. Go minimal if you don’t want to look to over the top with a simply studded pattern on the pocket. Go wild and look for studs and zippers everywhere if you want to get noticed.

Of these trends I expect the faded black denim to become the hottest trend as its wearable by everyone and can fall into other trend categories. I expect the trend toward studs and zippers adorning your jeans to be fairly popular as well as they can be pretty subtle and create a few different looks. The moto jeans will most likely be popular with celebrities and young girls with trim figures, the rest of the population will probably stay away from this look.
