Upcoming Fashion Trends for Spring 2010

Butterfly Dress

My new guilty little pleasure is Launch My Line on Bravo, it’s full of insane people who want to design clothes but have no idea whatsoever. So this week they brought in some trend experts to tell them what the upcoming Spring 2010 trends would be.

So pay attention because the rumor has it that we’ll all be looking to nature for clothing inspirations this spring. For colors you’ll be seeing more grass greens, tomato reds, and orange. And for shapes, look for something that looks like a butterfly or a jellyfish. It seems as though gauzy fabrics would hold these shapes well and reflect the color trend so I think you’ll see a lot of movement in blousy garments.

Diane von Furstenberg has really captured the butterfly with her Erosa Dress that features a silk chiffon fabric that looks like butterfly wings, the additional ruching and draping paired with cap sleeves gives it a butterfly shape. This is one of the best examples of the upcoming butterfly trend.

The jellyfish shape and look is a little harder to find and define actually. But Anna Sui has come up with a good example with her Painted Stripes Dress. This dress features blue watery colors which bring the ocean to mind. The silk wrap dress has a gauzy, flowing appearance as a jellyfish would, and the painted stripes carry that shimmery illusion. And the side draping and pleating really give that billowy effect that a jellyfish body has.

These shapes are not necessarily flattering for every figure so before you dive headfirst into the latest fashion trends for 2010 try them on to make sure they fit your form.
